Horses who are used for showing in disciplines such as dressage, jumping, western pleasure classes, etc. are the most infrequent trail users. The benefits of giving a show horse a break from their rigorous training in the arena, via trail riding, are widely recognized and applauded.
This gives the horse a mental break from the daily work load and stimulates the mind and senses in a way we cannot give them in an enclosed arena.
Remember: Horses are herd animals, and even the most disciplined horse in an enclosed arena can be threatened by an innocent leaf or bag, so buddy up! We will have a sign up sheet in the rider's lounge for anyone looking to organize a trail ride. Riders can schedule their own rides with other barn riders.
Be safe. Always wear a helmet. And Enjoy!
